Bio & Statement

I paint from my own imagination and follow a feeling, an instinct. Underlying my work, patterns of thoughts, emotions, and stories might be seen. However my art is pure abstraction inspired by infinity.
Biography
I grew up in Paris, France, where I studied mathematics and computer science. I gained a Master's degree in both subjects and taught them at schools throughout France and Tunisia.
I moved from France to Long Beach, California, in 2006. Once in the US, I created Les Jolis Trésors Art Gallery in Long Beach and managed it from 2009 to 2014, curating exhibitions, moderating art talks, and teaching art.
I have had several solo exhibitions with Gallery 825, in Los Angeles, C Gallery on Broadway in Long Beach, OCCCA, Orange County Center for Contemporary Art in Santa Ana, LA Artcore in Los Angeles
I have organized an Artists Exchange between Paris and Los Angeles, with LA Artcore. A group of LA Artists exhibited at the « Salon des Réalités Nouvelles » in Paris, a group of French artists, living in France participated in the exhibition “La Musique Américaine” in February 2020 at LA Artcore.
I am chair of marketing and Public Relations at OCCCA. I am an active member of Los Angeles Art Association - Gallery 825 and a board member of Women Painters West.

My mixed media paintings combine a variety of nuanced colors, a multitude of diverse brush strokes and alternating textures. I build up layers, then subtract, add, partially cover, scratch and scrape the surface to create the effects I seek.
For my watercolor paintings on YUPO, I use moist watercolors in tube, I apply them directly on the surface, and then I pour a large amount of water. In this first layer the vivid colors mingle randomly together. Later on I add new layers with big splashes of watercolor and thin connecting lines.
These painting techniques bring me closer to the way I imagine the cosmos and the infinity in mathematics.
